Link Love

Written by Lovelyn on July 30, 2010 – 10:16 pm -

It’s late in the day but I’ve finally gotten around to putting up my link love post. Here are the interesting things going on online this week.

New Online Cooking Class - Ann Marie from Cheeseslave.com is offering an online cooking class that looks like it will be really good. I read Ann Marie’s blog and it’s full of tons of really useful information about food.  Check out the class here.

Boost Your Metabolism - Matt Stone from 180 Degree Health was interviewed on Underground Wellness Radio this week. It’s a great interview and I recommend listening to it. If you’re not an Underground Wellness fan you should definitely become one. Sean Croxton really does a great job interviewing a variety of guests. Here’s the link to the Matt Stone episode.

The Thyroid-Gut Connection - This is are really informative post on the Health Skeptic. Check it out.

Don’t Read this if you Want to be a Better Blogger - If you’re a blogger you should read this post. It’s really good. Trust me. Check it out here.

That’s it for interesting links this week. Have a great weekend. I’ll see you again next Tuesday.

My Food Philosophy

Written by Lovelyn on September 29, 2009 – 3:44 pm -

food-philosophy

I wanted to talk about diet today and some of the changes I’ve made in my own diet. My dietary philosophy has changed a bit since I started this blog and I wanted to say something about that. When I first started Art of Balanced living I only ate fish and no meat or poultry. My dairy consumption was very limited and I drank soy milk and ate tofu occasionally. I avoided fats especially saturated fat and used vegetable oil in cooking regularly. I was always on the look out for the healthiest oil, but it was always some sort of vegetable oil. I only wanted to eat healthily and I wanted to feed my family the healthiest meals possible. I still do, but the way I approach it has changed a bit. Read more »

As many of you already know, I used to be a professional massage therapist. I don’t massage professionally anymore, but I do still have an interest in bodywork, skin and natural oils. My home is full of various kinds of natural oils and butters. I make my own moisturizers and creams. This article will include a recipe for a body butter that I use daily. It’s a great natural formula for fading stretch marks. Read more »

hypothyroidism

I’ve been hearing a lot about thyroid disorders recently and how they’re so prevalent. I didn’t know much about the thyroid and what it does so I decided to read up on it. I used to have a roommate that took thyroid medication and she told me that if she didn’t take it she would die. That’s about all I knew. While looking into thyroid disorders, specifically hypothyroidism, I came across this ebook and decided to purchase it and see what it said. Read more »

choose-happiness

I was having quite a difficult time towards the end of last week. I don’t know what it was exactly, but I was very depressed and suddenly feeling quite hopeless. I moped around the house for a couple days complaining about everything in my life that I could think to complain about. It was just not a good scene. I’m sure my family was absolutely tired of me.
