Boycott BP

Written by Lovelyn on May 24, 2010 – 12:22 pm -

This whole oil spill thing makes me so angry I can’t even see straight. Eleven people have died and oil continues to leak into the Gulf of Mexico. I think everyone should boycott BP. BP owned brands include Castrol, Arco, Aral, am/pm, Amoco,  Wild Bean Cafe, and  Safeway gas. If you feel too apathetic to actually boycott them here’s some motivation.

The Clouds Will Part — Encouraging Words for Trying Times

Written by Lovelyn on November 3, 2009 – 2:03 pm -

clouds parting

When I woke up this morning it was the most miserable day ever. The wind was howling, rain was pouring down and the sky was dark. “What a miserable day,” I thought, “I won’t be walking to the grocery store today.” Normally, I walk to the store and I have a few things to pick up for dinner tonight. A few minutes ago, I noticed the sun shining on me as I sat at my desk.  When I looked out the window the sun was shining and the sky was perfectly clean and blue. It looks like I will be walking to the store after all. Read more »

I was reading a blog post the other night about the habits of healthy people and one of the habits really stood out to me. It could be applied to most everything not just health. The quote was “healthy people talk themselves into doing, being, living a certain way. Unhealthy people talk themselves out of it.” Read more »

We all encounter hardships in our lives. Overcoming obstacles and hardships set before us is one reason why we’re all here. What are the obstacles you face? How can you overcome them? How can you make them your strengths instead of your weaknesses? Read more »

My stepson is staying with his mother for the summer holiday. He went there about a week ago and will be there for six weeks. Yesterday, he called because he and his mother had an argument. “I hate arguments,” he kept saying on the phone. “Now my whole summer vacation is ruined. I can’t believe my whole vacation is ruined.” He kept insisting that his vacation was ruined because of one simple argument. Read more »

Written by Lovelyn on July 14, 2009 – 10:54 am -

overworked-stress-reduction
I tend to be a bit of a workaholic. I try to reform all the time and most of the time I successfully do for a little while. Honestly, it’s hard though. When you love the work you do, for me it’s writing, it’s difficult not to do it all the time. At times, even though you love it, it can get to be too much. That’s what’s happened to me recently. I’ve been working too hard. Read more »
