I love fresh cilantro. It’s sometimes referred to as Mexico or Chinese parsley. It doesn’t matter what you call it, all that matters is that it’s delicious. It’s great in a salad, salsa, guacamole, curries and even makes a good pesto. Did you know that cilantro is very good for you too?

Controls blood sugar levels–When given to diabetic mice, cilantro helps regulate insulin and lower their blood sugar levels.

Helps remove heavy metals from the body–Cilantro can act as a natural chelation treatment. Heavy metals like mercury enter your body through things like leaky mercury fillings in your teeth or eating contaminated fish. Cilantro helps the body flush out those toxins.

Fights salmonella–There is a compound called dodecenal contained in cilantro that does a great job at killing the bacteria that causes salmonella.

Prevents nausea and gas–Cilantro has an excellent for the digestive system. It generally aids in healthy digestion.

Contains anti-inflammatory properties–It is sometimes used in folk medicine to treat arthritis.

Helps fight urinary tract infections

Besides these great benefits, cilantro is a good source of iron and magnesium. It also helps fight against those awful free radicals.
