I first really looked at this scripture when someone in church read it aloud to support a point she was trying to make in class. At the time I was attending a ward for singles, so the comment made was about attracting an appropriate mate, but I think the principle can be used in all aspects of life. Since that day this has been one of my favorite scriptures.

This theory isn’t true in the world of magnets, but I think it’s true when it comes other aspects of life. Think about what you want your life to be and the people you want to surround yourself with. You must become the thing that you most want the people around you to be to attract those people.
You can look at what you see in the people around you as a mirror into yourself. Are most of the people you spend time with dishonest? Do they spend a lot of time complaining? How does that reflect your own attitudes?
I think this concept is best seen in the idea that you get what you look for. If you see the world as full of greedy rude people, you’ll notice the greedy rude people around you. If you think of people as basically good, you’ll notice the good people around you.
I’ve talked a lot about changing your thoughts and attitudes recently. I know that can seem difficult to do. Your thoughts become habitual, but it is possible to change habits. It doesn’t even have to be that hard. It just depends on the attitude you take in trying to do it.
I’ve written a lot about changing thoughts and attitudes recently because I’ve been trying to do that myself. I have to admit that I’ve fallen off the wagon several times and found myself wallowing in the mire of self pity, but I quickly realize that you can’t get a lot done in the mire and move on.
