Discovering Your Talents
Written by Lovelyn on January 26, 2009 – 5:53 pm -Everyone has talents. Discovering what those talents are can be hard for some people.
When thinking of talents many people consider artistic ones. Talents in music or painting are highly regarded, but talents are only artistic in nature. Some people are talented at problem solving, others are good at making people feel comfortable. Some people are good with numbers. If you’ve become disconnected with what your talent is it can be difficult to rediscover it.
If you don’t have a clear idea about what your talents are here are some ways to find them.
Notice your passions. Is there something you really enjoy doing? The activities that you’re drawn give you a clear indication as to what your talents are. These are activities that come naturally to you that you enjoy doing.
Keep a journal. I’ve writing about journaling a lot. Keeping a journal can help you recognize what you really enjoy doing.
Remember your childhood. As children we have a clearer sense of what we like and don’t like. What did you like to do as a child? Answering this question could give you some clues about what your talents are.
Notice compliments. Sometimes other people can notice our talents more easily than we can.
These simple methods can help find your talents. Once you discover what your talent is work to develop it. You’ll find that as you get better at the thing you’re most passionate about your quality of life will also improve.
