Tagged! Six Things About Me

Written by Lovelyn on January 7, 2009 – 12:00 pm -

This post is a bit different than my normal post. I was tagged this week by Carla at Green + Chic. So I’m going to tell you a little bit more about myself. Here are six little known facts about me.

1. I like to live abroad. I’ve lived in China, Zimbabwe and Korea. I’m currently living in the UK. Life as an expat suits me. I was in China and Zimbabwe for school. My longest stay was in Korea. I lived there for six and a half years. Teaching English as a second language is a great way to live abroad. That’s what I was doing in Korea.

2. I speak Korean. I better after living there so long. I used to speak Mandarin Chinese, but I haven’t used it for so long that I’ve forgotten it. I’ve been letting my Korean go by the wayside too, but recently decided to start watching Korean television online to keep it up.

3. I can make kimchi. This always impresses Koreans, so I thought I’d throw it in there. I can make a variety of Korean food.

4. I love to eat exotic food. I’ll try almost any kind of food. I’m not picky. I ate at a bug restaurant in China, where I ate scorpions, ants, silkworms, and grasshoppers. All of those things were quite delicious. The worst thing I ate at that restaurant was rotten tofu. It’s supposed to be a delicacy. It was bluish, blackish, green and slimy. It smelled like a toilet backed up. I had to hold my nose to eat it.

5. I wrote a novel. I’ve actually written two novels. Neither of which are published yet. I’m working on getting the second one published. I think that first one was a practice run that needs to be discarded. I’m currently working on my third novel.

6. I play the saxophone. I don’t play it well. I’m not Dexter Gordon yet, but I’m working on it. My father is a professional musician and my husband is a musical genius, who recorded this wonderful CD. I’m around music all the time and always say I’m going to work hard to improve my musical ability, but never quite find the time to practice as much as I need to.

As an added bonus, the picture I used for this post demonstrates my utter silliness.

So that’s it. I hope you found this post intriguing.

To continue this tagging game:

1. LINK TO THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU
2. POST THE RULES ON YOUR BLOG
3. WRITE SIX RANDOM THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF
4. TAG SIX PEOPLE AT THE END OF YOUR POST AND LINK TO THEM
5. LET EACH PERSON KNOW THEY ARE TAGGED AND LEAVE A COMMENT ON THEIR BLOG
6. LET THE TAGGER KNOW WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS UP
7. DON’T BREAK THE CHAIN (not actually a rule)

I’m supposed to tag six more bloggers, but I’m only tagging three because I’m bad at following directions and don’t like to play by the rules. I’ll tag Heidi from Light Skinned’ed Girl, Madame K from My So-Called Life in France and Ari from Our Best Version. Sorry if you’ve already been tagged.
