Natural Weed Killer
We have a gravel driveway in front of our flat. The other day I looked out at it and noticed that the weeds in it were getting quite tall.
“Are we supposed to take care of that or is our landlord?” I asked my husband.
We took a quick look at the lease and discovered that we were supposed to take care of the weeds.
After doing some research, I found several ways to get rid of weeds without the use of chemical laden weed killers.
- Pull them up. You can do it the old fashioned way. It can be hard work, but it can also be therapeutic. I wanted to take that approach, but my husband argued that it was too much hard work and would take too long.
- Salt. Putting coarse salt like rock salt on weeds is supposed to kill them. The problem is that it soaks into the soil and ruins it. When I told my husband this he said, “Good. We don’t want anything to grow there anyway.” Then I pointed out another possible problem. Putting a bunch of salt down in the driveway could rust out our car.
- Boiling water. You could boil a pot of water and pour it on the weeds. This sounds like a lot of work to me. I’m clumsy too. I’m likely to fall down carrying the pot of water outside.
- Vinegar. Put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it on the weeds. You know I like using vinegar for just about anything so this plan sounds like a winner to me.
The only problem is that it’s been raining ever since I started looking for ways to get rid of the weeds so I haven’t been able to try it out.
