Self Massage: Trigger Point Therapy

365068304_55d8b427fe.jpg

Trigger points are areas of hyper irritation in a muscle. Trigger points occur because the muscle has been injured in some way and an area of the muscle is contracted. This contracted area restricts blood flow. The restriction of blood flow causes the muscle to become nutrient starved and have a build-up of waste products. This can cause pain, numbness, tingling and weakness in the muscle. Continue Reading »

Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Recipe

2077047513_9617129dbc.jpg

My stepson loves pizza. I’m not a huge pizza fan. I’ve never been into the idea of ordering pizza, but I love homemade pizza. I make pizza on a regular basis. You can experiment with toppings. I like to pile my pizzas high with vegetables. This is an easy pizza dough recipe that I use all the time. Continue Reading »

Just a Quick Link

I wanted to link to this interview on Zen Habits with Stephen Covey. In the interview he says that he rides a stationary bicycle every morning whilst doing his scripture study. I could never do that. My husband says it’s because I dramatically move my head around whenever I exercise. I always wondered why I have so many problems seeing whilst exercising.

Natural Cleaning Products You Can Make At Home

336000454_5d1e6b53f5.jpg

I’ve been trying to use more environmentally friendly cleaning products. The problem with that is most environmentally friendly cleaning products seem to cost twice as much as what I’ve been paying for regular cleaning products. Convinced that their must be a cheaper solution, I did some research and guess what? I found one. I thought I’d share what I found with you. Continue Reading »

Finding the Right Diet for You

312427606_defa0dfaa8.jpg

On Wednesday, Leo at Zen Habits posted an article called A 12-Step Program to Eating Healthier Than Ever Before. I read it and thought he gave some good advice about how to change your diet gradually. Other readers disagreed with the changes he suggested making and a firestorm of controversy has erupted in the comments following the post. (Okay, maybe it wasn’t a firestorm of controversy, but you have to admit the phrase sounds good. Come on, admit it.) Continue Reading »

Peppery Vegetarian Pot Stickers

Finding Joy in Serving Others

foto_morgana

Last week I fixed dinner for an elderly couple. I didn’t know them. Someone else had asked me to do it as an act of service. I didn’t have a reason not to, so I did. I have some anxiety about cooking for people I don’t know. I want to cook something they’ll like. So I called to ask them what they might like to eat and they said, “We’ll eat anything. We’re not picky.” Continue Reading »

Thai Massage

“I hope you brought a change of clothes,” my therapist said.

I glanced down at my restrictive blue jeans and apologetically told her that I didn’t. I’d been running late all day. In my rush to get to my appointment on time, I forgot to change. Continue Reading »
