I don’t think I’ve ever had a tension headache. My husband, on the other hand, gets them regularly. Since I’ve taught him about self massage, he’s been able to decrease the severity and frequency of his headaches. Continue Reading »

When I was in my early twenties, I got a job working for a bank. Before I could start the job, I had to attend a training session in the neighboring town. At the time my social anxiety was quite high about a lot of situations that I encountered. Starting a new job, and attending a training session in a town I didn’t know very well was a little nerve racking. The most nerve racking thing about it was the lunch break. I’ve always had lots of anxiety about lunch breaks. Where will I eat? Who will I eat with? These questions would scuttle about in my mind as the lunch hour grew closer and closer. Continue Reading »

This is a miso soup recipe that I make quite often. It’s kind of a hybrid of Korean Mi Yok Guk and miso soup. Dried seaweed is very healthy. It contains iron, magnesium, and vitamin B5. Miso contains magnesium, vitamin K, zinc and copper. It tastes great and it’s good for you. What more can you ask? Continue Reading »

I don’t like public speaking. A lot of my friends don’t like public speaking either. It’s nerve racking and terrifying. Last week I had to speak in church. I’ve had to speak in church before. I’ve seen plenty of pictures of stunning environmentally friendly homes. It’s nice to fantasize, but right now I don’t the money to buy or build one of those homes. It’s easy to think of environmentalism as something for the rich. I can’t afford an electric car or even a hybrid for that matter. The property manager at my apartment complex wouldn’t be happy to see me crawling out onto the roof to install solar panels. I’m sure that would somehow violate the lease. Continue Reading »

“This is really good for me,” my husband said as he sat on the bed kneading his thigh. This had become a nightly ritual for a few months. He’d start up high and work his way toward the knee methodically. Once he’d finished both legs he’d jump up and do a chicken like strut around the room. “My legs feel so light,” he’d say. “It’s so easy to walk around!”
